A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, APC Reformers has faulted statement credited to the outgoing first lady, Chief (Mrs) Florence Ajimobi that, “the only thing the party needs to win the 2023 election is unalloyed loyalty to leaders.”

The factional acting Secretary, Sulaimon Ramon in a statement seen by CityMirrorNews explained that what the party needs to win the 2023 election was not loyalty to leaders but the constitution, loyalty to the party and loyalty to the party’s constitution.

He said all these will come along with brand new party executives that will emerge through the constitution and also spearhead the loyalties while subjecting herself to the supremacy of the party’s constitution”.

Ramon said the blind loyalty given to Governor Abiola Ajimobi made him become unquestionable and a totalitarian leader which has started manifesting its attendant consequences.

“The state chairman of the party, Chief Akin Oke has also been advised to retire peacefully and quit politics honourably by May 29th. This is because he has succeeded in returning the power to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in an avoidable and woeful manner.”

The Reformers were reacting to the statement credited to the party chairman last week inviting those who left the party to return for reconciliation.

“Chief Akin Oke was a principal part of the problem. So he can not be the solution or part of the reconciliation process.

“He surrendered the party to the manipulation of Ajimobi. Under his watch, all party executives and candidates for elections were manipulated and imposed. Under his eyes, the government did not
conduct local government elections for over seven years.

“Under his watch, loyal party members were tortured and kept out of government. Under his watch, Oyo became the only South West state out of our great party’s control”, it said.
