By Olusakin Babalola,Ibadan
The last has not been heard concerning some missing vehicles at the end of Senator Abiola Ajimobi’s administration some of which have been recoverd by the Government of Engr Seyi Makinde.
Mr.Taiwo Adisa, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor faulted the defence put up on Sunday by the former governor declaring that Ajimobi was economical with the truth.
Ajimobi on Sunday at his residence in Ibadan, told journalists after the Sallah celebration that the controversial missing vehicles was a non issue stressing that is the general convention while old political officers are leaving office.
The former Governor who was not comfortable with his criticism regarding the missing vehicles said “what the present government did not realise is that the policy is that any government officials using vehicles should take it away at the time of leaving,”
He disclosed that a governorship candidate left his former office with seven cars adding that he too left his former place before becoming a governor with eight vehicles.
He further declared that he did not leave the government house with a spoon alleging that the government should investigate the civil servants on the missing vehicles.
In a swift reaction,Mr Adisa said that the former governor was economical with truth pointing out that he was unfair at pointing fingers at the civil servants.
“We are not amused by the branding of our civil servants as thieves by the former Governor. We are worried by what he did to the system when he was there ,the Chief Press Secretary said.
Adisa pointed out that there was nowhere in the guideline that says the Governor can give the government property to his cronies adding “if he says it happens everywhere that cannot be a justification
He alleged that the illegally taken away vehicles were not paid for and that explained why some of them have been retrieved because it was against accountability which this administration believes in.
“The Oyo state Government has no issue with vehicles properly boarded by the past officials but the issues are with those dashed out as gifts,he clarified
