Why We Embark On Oyetola’s Victory March—-OYES Cadets
By Ayobami Agboola, Osogbo
The Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme OYES Cadets on Friday joined other well wishers in the state to celebrate with Governor Gboyega Oyetola, whose victory at the September 22, 2018 gubernatorial election was affirmed by the Court of Appeal on Thursday.
The Oyes cadets, who could not hide their joy over the verdict said they would have been in a devastating mood if the judgement had gone against the incumbent governor.
The appeal court had set aside the judgment of the Election Petition Tribunal which ruled in favour of Peoples Democratic Party, and its candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke.
The cades marched through the major streets of Osogbo, the state capital amidst drumming, singing and dancing.
Speaking, OYES Commandanté, Colonel Eniibukun Oyewole rtd, said they decided to embark on the victory march so as to express their gratitude to God for the Governor’s victory at the Court of Appeal.
He said it would be another story, if the event turned otherwise, adding that they didn’t pray for a party which has no tangible programmes for the betterment of the youth to be at the helm of the affairs of the state.
Represented by Mr Samuel Ajani Oluyemi, Chairman of OYES mentors, Oyewole saluted the verdict of the court of appeal which upheld the victory of the governor, describing it as “Gallantry judgement “
He noted that the verdict has put to rest the backdoor judgment procured by the PDP and confirmed the rightful owner of the mandate.
He said , “it would have be another story, if the appellate court has done otherwise. You wouldn’t have seen us rejoicing as we are now, we would have been mourning because is like a baby that is sucking the breast and somebody now forcefully remove that baby from the breast of his mother, can you imagine the baby would keep on crying.”
“No any government can come on board and perform excellently well as the government of the day is doing, especially in the area of youth empowerment and engagement.
“Any government that is not developing the future of the youth, that government is not going to stand. Building the youth is building tomorrow.
“I know the party that is struggling to hijack the government does not have any good programme for the youth. We don’t want OYES programme to be a thing of the past and APC is the only party that is ready to sustain the tempo.
“APC led government has succeeded in taking good care of the youth and we all know that a government that has taken good care of the youth has simply put in place seeming security for the state because youths are usually the weapons for hooliganism, killings here and there, but since the youth has been engaged, nobody can come and hire them for all these vices.
“OYES aims at empowering youths by equipping them with positive work ethics and culture, thus making them employable or employers of labour , with respect for the environment.
“Since the introduction of the empowerment scheme, the programme has given hope to many youths , transforming them into active stakeholders in both the state’s economy and for the nation’s ultimate good.
“Many of them have build their houses , they have expanded their businesses , in fact they are living well. So we don’t pray to loose the government that put this in place to be hijacked by a government that has nothing to offer the youth”, he said.
Oyewole assured good people of Osun, party faithful and supporters across the state on the readiness of APC-led administration to deliver more dividends of democracy to all and sundry.
Reiterating Governor Oyetola’s determination to put Osun on the pedestrian of greatness and prosperity, he urged the party faithful to be magnanimous in victory.
Also speaking, the Director General Oranmiyan Worldwide, Hon Olajide Sadiq congratulated the Osun Governor Gboyega Oyetola for his tenacity in ensuring that the mandate of Osun people in him does not get into wrong hands through the judiciary.
He described the appeal court ruling as a clear one which states true picture of the mandate of Osun people at the election pool which held towards the end of year 2018, while describing that of the tribunal as not a true and fair state of Osun mandate.
Sadiq called for the continued support of Governor Gboyega Oyetola of APC government and charged the excited OYES cadets to be good ambassador for the present government in the state, while adding that the progressive mind of the government will benefit the state in all ramification.
