Baderinwa Tasks LG Information Officers On Professionalism

Information officers at the grassroot level have been charged to bridge communication gap between the government and the people by giving the public accurate update of government activities.
The Supervisor Ministry of Information and Strategy Mr. Adelani Baderinwa gave the charge while addressing Information officer at the at the 3-Day workshop titled ” Maximizing the power of digital Public Relations and communication in a changing world held at the Local Government Service Commission’s Multi-purpose Hall.
Baderinwa emphasized that information officers must endeavor to disseminate information in line with modern practices saying governance without communication will lead to misception of programmes and policies of government.
In his keynote address, the chairman Local Government Service Commission Elder Tunde Adedeji noted the State government is committed to the training and re_training of it’s staff to keep them abreast of new events and innovation for better performance.
Elder Adedeji stated that since the inception of the present administration , government has been funding training programmes in fulfillment to it’s promises and to ensure that workers are skilled in their choose profession saying knowledge acquisition will help officers to take decisions that will assist government to achieve a meaningful result.
The Local Government Service Commission boss stressed the need for Information officers who are the mouth piece of government to be professional while discharging their duties.
He maintained that they must present adequate and correct information devoid of ambiguity.
According to him, information officers should be ready to learn and be digital compliance noting that this is the only way they can compete favourably with their colleagues at any level.
In their presentations Messers Dapo Ajayi and Gbenga Faminu opined that imfomations officers are communication managers who must give an account of event in a way that will promote peace and tranquility in the society.
