Breaking: Tribunal Upholds Komsol Election, Dismisses PDP Petition
By Jide Afolabi, Jos
The National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting at High Court, Jos, Plateau state, today, Monday upheld the election of Hon Komsol Alphonsus as the winner of Mikang/Qua’An Pan/Mikang Federal constituency election in Plateau state.
The Tribunal dismissed the petition filed by the former House of Representatives member representing same constituency and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in the election, Hon Johnbull Shekarau for lacking in merit.
The tribunal held that the Petitioner, Hon Shekarau failed to prove issues of fake results and over-voting among others in his petition.
The petitioner, Shekarau had approached the tribunal to declare him the winner of the election on the ground that there were cases of over-voting in some polling units and that the Certificate of Returns issued to Komsol was fake.
Komsol was the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the election.
