Ibadan Central Abattoir Organises Tuberculosis Screening, Commissions Clinic

To commemorate the World Tuberculosis Day, the Central Abattoir Ibadan on Wednesday organised tuberculosis screening for the abattoir stakeholders and commissioned a clinic which will cater for users of the abattoir.

The event which was in partnership with the Department of Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine, University of Ibadan had in
attendance the Commissioner for Agriculture,
Natural Resources and Rural Development, Barr.
Oyewole Oyewunmi; Chairman of the Abattoir, Eng.
Abiodun Ahmadu; Chairman Akinyele East LCDA,
Mr Akinpade Ayobami; Dean, UI Veterinary
Medicine, Prof J. O. Olapade and others.

While speaking, the Commissioner for Agriculture,
Barr. Oyewunmi noted that the clinic is an integral
part of the Central Abattoir which is in line with the transformation in the state.

“This clinic which is an integral part of the Central
Abattoir which is a Multi-billion naira project in
line with the transformation in Oyo state for the
promotion of food hygiene and safety.”
Oyewunmi also praised the essence of the Central
Abattoir while commenting on what happened
during the relocation of butchers to the abattoir.

“The project is a benefit to our citizens in Oyo state especially in Ibadan and its environs to provide wholesome meat to the end consumers through the complex mechanical and automatic processing of animals meat under a perfect and ideal hygienic environment transportable from slaughter slab to the organized markets, sales points/hubs in hygienic refrigerated vehicles.”

Also speaking, Engineer Ahmadu confirmed that
the Ibadan Central Abattoir’s vision was developed
12 years ago during the regime of former
Governor Adebayo Alao Akala and was completed
by Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s led administration.
Ahmadu also appreciated Governor Abiola Ajimobi
for his robustness towards the completion and the
starting of operation at the Central Abattoir.

“I want to appreciate Governor Abiola Ajimobi for
his robustness towards this abattoir” he said.
