I will Rebuild Kogi as a Business Hub – APC Aspirant, Prof Michael Abdullahi
The All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship aspirant for the November 2019 Kogi state governorship election, Prof Michael Abdullahi has vowed to focus more on people-oriented programs that can rebuild the state as commercial hubs of North-Central, Nigeria, if given the mandate to deliver on his campaign promises to the good people of Kogi in the forthcoming race .
Prof Abdullahi who spoke to media in Plateau State on Tuesday lamented the devastating stage of Kogi state since the return of democracy in 1999.
The Professor who hailed from Etekpe Ogbabede of biraidu district of Dekina local government area of the state vying for governorship under the platform of APC expressed dissatisfaction with the leadership of at party at the National but promised to use his experience to transform the state .
According to him, I had the political knowledge of Kogi politics where I have committed myself in bringing my wider experience to bare, we first settled in Igalamela for the 45 years till date, as an indigene of Ihaime in Igalamela Ajala.
He said Kogi people expected someone who has something to offer when he is elected the next governor, saying that although political parties intending to field in candidates in the November governorship election in Kogi State are going for party primaries elections.
He promised to clear the backlog of workers salaries and ensure that peace and tranquility return through his policy to fight poverty and youth empowerment in Kogi state.
“My administration shall partner with the private sector toward promoting the tourism in attracting local and international tourists in ensuring that the goal of next level is achievable”, he said.
Abdullahi reiterated his determination to provide free education, health, industrialization, provision of social amenities e.g electricity, pipe borne water and settlement of old Age Allowances to sportsmen and women in the state.
He explained further that the state is lacking in the area of recreational facilities considering the oil boom and the agrarian communities we have , adding, he would concentrate on reforms that can develop infrastructures across the rural and urban areas.
Prof Michael Abdullahi noted that if given the mandate, he is going to use river Benue and river Niger confluence points and the ideas of amalgamation of 1914 in Lokoja by Lord Lugard to attract investors to come in and develop our historical site .
He lamented the devastated stage of the kogi Airport authority which was established for decades but the revamping of the industrial sectors can push more human development to the state.
Michael stressed the need to reform the civil service commission to bring back the sacked civil servants which is one of the policies of this present leadership so we all urge you to support us to develop infrastructures in the state.
The University don emphasized that the people of Kogi state are going to have someone who understood the political terrain very well, and is willing to serve the state .
“I have been engaged in national politics of the nation and have the experience to stand in as the next Kogi state Governor and to create additional ministries and establishment of two more specialised state university at Kabba and Okene for equitable distribution of educational economy over the sub-region”, he added.
The APC governorship has been described as a man of integrity and committed Nigerian who have contributed to humanity greatly.
