Zakat Foundation Offers Free Medical Treatments To Osun Residents

About 300 residents of Osun State, Southwest Nigeria have benefited from the free medical service organized by the Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation over the weekend.

Residents of Olodan village in Ede South Local Government and other 16 suburb villages enjoyed assorted free medical treatments of the initiative tagged, Medical Caravan.

The 16 villages include Papalaku, Akilapa, Ajagemo, Ajila, Ago, Oke-Ogbagba, Mogaji, Deenu, Ere-Osun, Osadeyi, Abese, Idi-Oro, Mobi, Olosun, Adeoni and Arola benefited from the medical servic

In addition to free treatment and diagnoses, the beneficiaries also received drugs and different kind of clothes.

Addressing the beneficiaries, a Consultant Ophthalmologist from the Osun State University, Dr Mustapha Hassan who led the medical team enjoined the people to monitor their health status regularly and consult qualified personnel in all cases
Dr Hassan stressed the need to drink enough water, especially in the dry season, to keep them hydrated.

He said enough intake of water enhances metabolism and prevents many ailments.

The State Coordinator, Mallam Iyiola Oyedeji described ZSF as a Non Governmental Organisation as well as a supportive initiative which assists government on health care and poverty alleviation under the Faith Based Public Partnership Scheme.

He maintained that government alone cannot be left to people’s welfarism, saying Islam always sees to welfare of individuals and communities at large and that is what Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation stands for.

“In this particular exercise close to 200 adults and 100 children benefited from it. That’s why we regularly enjoin well meaning individuals and philanthropists, both at home and abroad, to partner with the Foundation by paying their Zakat and Sadaqat to us. They can also donate fairly-used materials and endowment properties to the foundation,” he urged.

In the same vein, the Osun State Administrative Officer of the Foundation, Mallam Moshood Olaoye, quoting from Qur’an Chapter 4:114, urged Muslims to encourage their families and friends to pay their charities to the Zakat and Sadaqat, in return for a bountiful reward from Allah.

People’s responses 

The joy of the people of Olodan village in Ede South Local Government knew no bounds as the reputable Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation impacted on them.

The Chief Imam of Olodan, Sheikh Abdul -Azeez Akilapa and its traditional ruler, Pa Raifu Ajayi were full appreciation to ZSF and praises to Allah as they prayed for all benefactors of the Foundation who made it possible to fulfill its mandate.

The Executive Director of ZSF, Prince Sulaiman Olagunju, spoke on the services of the Foundation which include: Zakat Assessment for individuals and Corporate Organisations, Collection and Distribution, Sadaqat Collection, Infaqul Afwu (donating or dispensing with the fairly used materials), Waqf (Endowment) , Iftar Saim (Feeding of fasting Muslims), Empowerment, Widows and Orphans Support, Educational and Medical Support among others.
