In his sermon, Rev. Dr. Peter Korosi urged the new Trustee to accommodate everyone.

“As a trustee, you are a father to all. God is calling you to see those that have been suppressed for no just reason”

Reverend Korosi stated that God is changing the course of history in the Church and is selecting men and women who did not seek leadership for that purpose. He thereafter urged the new Trustee to listen to God’s instruction and placed his confidence in him and He will be with him always.

He said, “You may be the youngest trustee and may also have the crisis of confidence trust like Moses in the Bible, but I want you to know that you are God’s representative in ECWA. You are where you are to seek His glory, not your power and prestige. Whatever negative conversation you might have had with God just as Moses did, I call on you to conclude it now by being obedience to God”.

The new Trustee, Dembo, while responding, acknowledged the huge responsibility he was saddled with noting that, “Board of Trustee is not a policy-making body. Their role is advisory and as the custodian of ECWA property”.

He continued, “My greatest concern is the plight of an ECWA Pastor in rural areas. There are many Pastors that are in arrears of salaries for over 15 months. There are many Pastors whose take-home pay salary is not up to N5,000. There are some Pastors who don’t even get the salaries at all. There are many Pastors whose salaries are determined by the Board of Elders. There are equally Pastors whose salaries are over N300,000 per month. Remember, these less privileged ECWA Pastors attended the same Theological training as the ones that earn above N300,000 per month”.

Dembo narrated his research while he was the Director of Audit. He said that in the opinion poll, 95% of the Church agreed with the centralization of Pastors’ salaries.

He said that it was a situation whereby, the viable churches augment the salaries of Pastors working in weaker Churches. He said that it was the greatest challenge to ECWA leadership since a committee for the centralization of Pastor salaries was inaugurated. He prayed that he succeeds in addressing the salary inequalities so as to improve the living condition of the Pastors especially, those at the rural communities.

Dembo succeeded Philip Usman who has been called to eternal glory.

The new Trustee hails from Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Born 1959, Dembo studied Accounting at the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi where he graduated from. He possesses a Diploma in Computer Science from ECWA Information and Completion Science Institute.

Also, Dembo is a Certified National Accountant (CNA) and member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) as well as Fellow Certified National Accountants (FCNA).

Dembo has worked in the Account and Audit Units in various arms of ECWA such as ECWA Production and ECWA Rural Development at different times.

He has also been a Board member of various ECWA departments such as ECWA productions Ltd, ECWA Central Pharmacy, ECWA Evangel Hospital, ECWA Hospital Kano, ECWA Hospital Egbe, ECWA Theological College Kagoro, ECWA Finance Board, ECWA Rural Development Ltd, ECWA Theological Seminary Jos, ECWA Guest Houses, ECWA Scholarship Board among others.

Dembo is a recipient of several awards.
