Plateau PDP Gov Candidate, Jeremiah Useni Obtains Order to Inspect Election Materials

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in the just concluded governorship election in Plateau state, Senator Jeremiah Useni has obtained the order of the Tribunal directing the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to release materials used for the governorship election for inspection by the party’s legal team.
The tribunal also ordered INEC to release the Certified True Copies of the election results.
The tribunal’s action followed the “very urgent” application filed by the PDP counsels on Monday April 1, 2019, requesting the tribunal to compel INEC to release the documents for inspection.
The three-member tribunal had two-members at the Monday session, but has yet to fix a date for its inaugural sitting.

Media and Publicity, Plateau PDP State Campaign Council, on Monday, noted that the party’s Governorship had filed 10 petitions before the tribunal which includes two senatorial, three House of Representatives and five House of Assembly seats.
Meanwhile, the governorship candidate, Useni has hailed the tribunal for giving the order.
According to Yiljap, he said, “the Governorship Candidate of the PDP in the election, Senator Jeremiah Timbut Useni has hailed the tribunal ruling as a bold move in the pursuit of justice.
“He appeals to party officials, stakeholders and supporters to remain strong in the hope that the mandate of Plateau people will ultimately be reclaimed. “I will not abandon the struggle.”
The tribunal to handle the petitions is yet to sit.
