The Nigeria Police Force, Plateau State Command has warned those who may be nursing negative intentions towards the smooth conduct of the election to have a rethink as Pengana State Constituency Bye-Election holds on Saturday, August 3, 2019.

The Command made this warning in a press release issued and signed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Tyopev Matthias Terna in Jos, the state capital on Monday.

He said that the Police shall conduct itself in line with the Constitution and international best practices while advising people who have no business with the election to steer clear of the area.

“The Command wants to appeal to those who may be nursing negative intentions towards the smooth conduct of the election to have a rethink because the Police and other security and law enforcement agencies in Plateau State are ready for any negative plan by anybody or group of persons who may want to disrupt the smooth conduct of the elections.” The statement said.

Meanwhile, the Command has urged intending voters who have their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVC) to come out on that day and exercise their franchise.

Tyopev said, “There shall be serious stop and search on Jengre to Jos Highway as well as other adjourning routes on that Day.

“We appeal to the residents of the Plateau State to cooperate with us.”

The bye-election will be conducted to replace the deceased winner in the last general election who died shortly after being announced the winner of the election.
