Estate Developer, Awo Varsity Cooperative Sign MOU On Academia City Estate
The management of Academia City Estate has signed a memorandum of understanding with Awo Varsity Cooperative and Credit Society, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife to deliver 44 housing units to members of the Cooperative society.
The agreement in partnership with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria according to the developer will provide standard accommodation facilities in a serene environment for staffers of the university.
The developer, Mrs Anthonia Aikhomu told newsmen that the Academia City Estate is to provide a solution to the housing dearth in Ile Ife with the provision of decent houses to beneficiaries.
She said “Ile Ife has a dearth in housing. OAU has over 3,000 staff but the campus can only contain 600 housing units. We decided to sign this MOU to join efforts in providing decent houses for the staff and members of Awo Varsity Cooperative society.
“We are also looking at bringing on board individuals like the elites, the middle class, Ife indigenes in the diaspora, lecturers on campus among others to fulfill their desire of having a housing facility where people of like minds will cohabit.”
Prof Victor Olaleye, President Awo Varsity Cooperative Limited, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife explained that the agreement is in line with the bid of the society to cater for the welfare of its members by partnering with investors.
He said the MOU is one of the laudable steps which will enable members get affordable housing through the estate with top notch facilities and amenities.
