Contrary to the rumour being spread on social media, a socio-political group, the Osun New Era Group (ONE-G) has stated that Governor Rauf Aregbesola did not direct the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti to resign his appointment if he wants to contest the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Debunking the rumour, the state Coordinator of the ONE-G, Mr Jamiu Raheem , in a press statement made available to CityMirrorNews on Saturday, said purported resignation directive was not but a political gunshot aimed at causing disaffection between the Governor and Adeoti and their supporters.

Raheem who said that Adeoti is a leading governorship aspirant in the APC, maintained that the rebuttal became necessary in view of the interest shown in the news material by supporters and members of the party in the state.

He said: “Our response to the falsehood raised in the contents of the news material has become necessary in view of the interest generated by the supporters of our principal, Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti, being a front-runner in the race for who succeeds Governor Rauf Aregbesola at the end of his tenure come November 27, 2018.

“The news material, from all intent and purpose was the handiwork of some faceless individuals who are bent on sowing a seed of discord between our principal and Governor Aregbesola.”

The ONE-G Coordinator therefore, admonished all party faithful andAdeoti’s loyalists and supporters to disregard the news material and go about their normal businesses.

“We want to admonish Alhaji Adeoti’s supporters to disregard the malicious news item and go about their individual daily businesses”, Raheem reiterated.

He submitted that no amount of such malicious publication can successfully scuttle Adeoti’s ambition to talk less of putting a spanner in the works of the existing good relationship existing between him and Aregbesola.
