Oyo Assembly Not Silent On Olubadan/Ajimobi Crisis – Deputy Speaker
From Abiodun Ogunrinde, Ibadan
The Deputy Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Barr Musa AbdulWasiu has stated the House of Assembly is not silent about the crisis generated by the elevation of some traditional rulers by Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
The Saki born lawmaker made this known today on a political programme aired on Fresh FM, Ibadan.
The Deputy Speaker said the Assembly performed its constitutional role during the Olubadan Chieftaincy Law Review process which has been nullified by the court,
Barr Abdulwasiu explained that the silence of Oyo State Legislators does not mean nothing is being done to resolve the issue.
“As we were planning to address this matter in plenary, one of the concerned persons in the whole drama went to the court and a house of assembly which headed by lawyers felt that a matter before the court must not be revisited”
He added that “We can say because we want our voice to be heard and go against provisions of laid down rules and regulations, once a matter is in court we are not competent to debate such a matter again.”
According to him,”We are a house of assembly that is guided by the law and due process. We cannot say because we want to impress people and do things that are against the provisions of the law of the land.”
