The All Progressives Congress in Osun state has said it has no intention to impose any contestant ahead of the forthcoming guber polls.

The party said it was still making necessary consultation to identify appropriate aspirant who would be favoured by the party ahead of the September 22 governorship election in the state.

The party in a statement issued by its chairman, Prince Adegboyega Famodun debunked speculations that it was planning to impose candidate.

APC also denied that it had already favoured one of the aspirants, insisting that it is still making necessary consultation to identify an aspirant that is capable of taking the party to victory.

The party therefore urged the people of the state to disapprove insinuations that the party was trying to impose candidate or favour an aspirant.

“we call on the people in the state to completely discountenance speculations and rumours spreading that one aspirant or the other is either going to be imposed or has been particularly favoured to be the candidate of the ruling party for the next governorship election in the state.

“Nothing of the such has happened or is contemplated. Currently, party leaders and elders are engaging in a rigorous process of consultation about how to identify the appropriate aspirant, capable of representing the party, preserving its heritage and continuing with the development agenda and programmes of the party.

“That candidate will eventually emerge through the constitutional process that the party has agreed on.

“The public is hereby reassured that our party remains committed to present the best candidate that will take the party to victory and build on the already established legacies of the present administration,” the statement reads.
