Cattles Take Over Major Roads In Plateau State
By Jide Afolabi, Jos
Cattle’s have taken over major roads in Bukuru, headquarters of Jos South local government area in Plateau state.
Hundred of cattle’s were also sighted around Anguldi area, a major road leading to the city centre. The road was recently rehabilitated and renamed after the President, Muhammadu Buhari.
Observers said that the pathetic sight of cattle’s on such roads could be as a result of the tension in the state.
However, residents of the area are uncomfortable with the development, noting that they do not feel secured having herdsmen and cattle’s at their doorsteps. They called on the government to checkmate the herdsmen so as to forestall another wave of violence in the city centre.
Meanwhile, other observers stated that the herdsmen may be afraid of passing through their normal routes because of the fear for reprisal attacks.
It would be recalled that the state government has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on troubled areas of Riyom, Barkin Ladi and Jos South local government areas owing to the attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen leading to the death of at least, 200 persons.
