YUG Decries Fulani Herdsmen Killings

By Abiodun Ogunrinde, Ibadan
An Oyo state pressure organization, the Yoruba Unity Group has condemned the incessant killing of innocent Nigerians by the Fulani herdsmen in some part of the country, describing the incidence as inhuman and wickedness.
Speaking shortly at a monthly meeting of the YUG, the National Cordinator of the group, Hon Folasade Odunjo, warned that the Fulani killings should not be extended to Yorubaland, stating that the Yoruba people would defend their territory, lives and properties with what they have.
Odunjo stressed that there were no ranches in Yorubaland where the herdsmen can practice their cattle rearing.
The secretary of the group, Hon J.B Oladele said, the group is worried on the merciless killings by the Fulani herdsmen, charging the federal government to be proactive by providing lasting solution.
In his address, Hon. Sunday Ogunsade called on government at all levels to be responsive on the Fulani issues, just as he called for adequate security in order to prevent the Fulani massacre from escalating to other states, most especially the Yorubaland.
“The Yorubas will not accommodate them to starting killings us like fowls”, Ogunsade said.
