Oloyede made this disclosure in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, while speaking as Lead Speaker during the 3rd Colloquium to celebrate Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s birthday, organised by Raufnomics Transformation of Osun, a socio-political group.

Professor Oloyede maintained that those who are ruling the country and many Agencies of government are certified thieves.

According to Oloyede, “the total amount remitted by JAMB in its first 39 years of existence stood at N52 million. JAMB is forty years this year.

“But when I took over as the Registrar, We realized that we made N9 Billion from the examination we conducted and out of the amount, we remitted N7.8 Billion to the Federal government,” he disclosed.

“Members of the National Assembly marveled at this feat, they wondered how I came about the figure.

“Nigeria is dominated by thieves at the helms of affairs, I mean certified thieves; let me talk about JAMB for instance”.

Oloyede, who spoke on the theme: “Functional education as a tool for national development and a gateway to freedom” noted that education remains the bedrock of every nation.

He argued that education is essentially the main process through which a society regenerates itself, and hands down norms, cultures, and also generates wealth.

“You don’t need to use bomb to destroy a nation, just lower the quality of education and allow cheating by students in examinations.

“Education, being the art of acquisition and utilisation of knowledge is also an instrument in training individuals purposely to make them socially responsible.

“Functional education must geared towards the liberation of humanity from poverty and misery.

Prof Oloyede opined that education is essentially the main process through which a society regenerates itself and hands down the norms and culture of the people.

The JAMB Registrar who told the nation’s ruling class to build people instead of building the fence warned that “If you destroy education, you will destroy the society.”

He counselled that functional education which would be useful and practicable should be provided for the youth adding that “Education must tackle poverty, employment and inequality.”

“All in all, education must be functional before it is adaptable.”

Professor Oloyede lauded the administration of President Mohamadu Buhari for being in the right direction for wagging war against corruption.

He said, Although the government may not be doing well, but the mere fact that it is fighting corruption is a program in the right direction.”

Professor Oloyede commended governor Aregbesola for the infrastructure he put in place to change the face of Osun adding “Aregbesola deserves to be celebrated as he has achieved much in Osun :Gbongan Fly over, Gbongan/Osogbo road and Osogbo/Ikinrun/Ila-Odo Kwara boundary road.

Traditional Rulers at the colloquium are Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi, the Orangun of Oke-Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdulrasheed Olabomi and 93 year old Senator Ayo Fasanmi.
