ACPN Candidate Rejects Withdrawal Of Party From LG Election
The candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria for Saturday’s Local Government Parliamentary Election in Osun State in Ward 1B, Iragbiji, Aiyeloja Olusola Richard has backed out from a letter by the state party chairman, Lawal Kayode withdrawing from the elections to support the All Progressives Congress APC.
In a letter sent to OSSIEC in Iragbiji obtained exclusively by CityMirrorNews to back out signed by Comrade Tunde Ajiboye, the party’s secretary and the party’s candidate in Ward 1B, Aiyeloja Richard, the flag bearer noted that the exercise to dump the election by the ACPN is unconstitutional.
It said it does not support the move by Lawal noting that the move to withdraw from the race is a one man decision.
The ACPN Letter
He added that the move is in aberration with OSIEC electoral guidelines A page (5) that “A political party may withdraw the nomination of its candidate by notice in writing signed by the secretary of the political party delivered in person to the commission not later than twelve o’clock in the afternoon of the fourteen (14) days to before the verification exercise.”
It would be recalled that the Chairman of the Party, Lawal Kayode and 2 others on Friday wrote to OSIEC informing of the party’s desire to quit the elections to support the All Progressives Congress APC.
