Ondo Police Arrest Three Suspected Car Snatchers, Recover 7 Stolen Vehicles

The Ondo State Police Command has recovered seven stolen  Honda Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) from a three-man gang of armed robbers in Akure, the Ondo State Capital.

While parading the suspects before Journalists at the Command’s Headquarters in Akure, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Gbenga Adeyanju gave their names as Fadamitan Desmond, Olayemi Adeoye and Imafidon Roland.

The Commissioner of Police said Adeoye was the  prime suspect, who  specialized in stealing vehicles in Akure, while the duo of Roland and Desmond are in the habit of selling the stollen vehicles.

“Upon Interrogation , the suspects confessed to have stolen the vehicles.Their leader Olayemi Adeoye narrated how they had been perpetrating the crimes within  and outside Akure. Efforts are on to arrest other fleeing members of the gang. Suspects will be arraigned in court at the conclusion of investigation,” the Police commissioner said.

Speaking, the leader of the gang Adeoye explained that the vehicles were stolen with special keys.

He said ” Anytime I identified a vehicle to be stolen,I will just go therewith my special key I have with me and take it away. I will take it to him( Desmond) and he will give me N50,000.”

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has directed all state commands in the country to set up a special task force on mopping up of illegal firearms.

Adeyanju disclosed that the Ondo state command had set up a three-man  task force in compliance with IGP’s directive

He listed, ACP Alani Adegoke,DSP Emmanuel Ojemu and ASP Dapo Omomuwasan as members of the task force in the state.

The Commissioner of Police revealed that twenty-one(21) days ultimatum has been given for persons with illegal firearms to submit to the nearest police station.

He warned that  after the expiration of the ultimatum,anyone with illegal firearms in the state would be arrested and prosecuted.
