Easter Festival: Osun Govt Offers Free Train Ride

Government of Osun state has again offered free train transport services for its citizens and others from neighbouring states who are willing to travel from Lagos to Osogbo, for Easter celebration.
The State Commissioner for Commerce, Industries and Cooperatives, Hon. Ismail Jayeoba Adekunle Alagbada, dropped the hint in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday.
According to Alagbada, the train free ride which is the 34th edition since 2010 would move to Osogbo from the Ido Terminus of the Nigeria Railway Corporation, Ebute Metta, Lagos on Friday March 30th at exactly 10am.
He said the train would on Monday, April 2, equally convey people back to Lagos, after Easter.
The Commissioner urged those that would celebrate Easter in Osun to take full advantage of the free train ride.
The gesture according to him was in line with the Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola-led government’s commitment to citizens’ welfare.
He noted that the government put it in place to ease movements of the people during period of the festivity.
He, therefore, enjoined indigenes of the state and others from neighbouring to maximise the advantage the free train ride offered tagged: Omoluabi Train to visit home and enjoy the Esther celebration.
His words, “Free train popularly called “Omoluabi” ride was introduced by the Aregbesola government about seven and half years ago and aimed at facilitating the easy movement of the citizenry wherever they are.
The programme which has become an annual event has assisted in reducing drastically the spate of accidents on the roads.
“And this programme takes care of both Muslims and Christians whenever it is the time for their festivals. Since its commencement, we can say confidently that it has been a boost to the economy of the state.”
Alagbadaina therefore enjoined willing travellers to join the ‘‘Omoluabi Train’’ in order to have a peaceful celebration.
