Bad Leadership Style Is Africa’s Major Problem– ILF DG
The Director-General of Integra Leadership Foundation, Comrade ‘Bode Olaitan has identified bad leadership style as the major problem confronting African nations, including Nigerian, declaring the organisation resolve to find practical solution to address the challenge.
ILF chief said this during the weekend when he led other directors of the organisation on a courtesy visit to one of the most respectable Osun Indigenes, Barrister Nathaniel Oke (S.A.N) in his home town , Akinlalu, Ife North LGA of Osun State.
The familiarisation tour is part of ILF mission to provide support and advocacy for the meaningful expression of people’s interest in Nigeria that foster on good governance and leadership development.
Mr Olaitan while lamenting the consequences of bad leadership of Nigerian leaders on the country, said “ILF is therefore finding practical and commonsense solutions to address this challenges, this has make us embarked on an ambitious vision and achievable mission.”
Continuing, he highlighted the mission of the organisation to include “Transforming Nigeria by fostering a new breed of leadership that will have the pedigree to deal with the problems affecting our Nation and to make participation in politics more accessible and discourse among young Nigerians are part of our mission.”
In his welcome address to the delegation earlier, Mr. Nathaniel who hailed the organisation effort to reposition leaderships on the continent, especially Nigeria, said he shared the mission of ILF and is prepared to offer his support.
The legal luminary noted that one of his highest priorities is to consult and partner closely with dedicated and capable organizations working on youth empowerments, developments, human rights, leadership and democracy, welcoming the intervention of ILF in that regard.
“With the vision, mission and objectives of ILF which centered on good governance and leadership development in Nigeria, most especially in my home state as understood, it will be very good if all well meaningful Nigerians can make every effort to protect the work of organization like this against efforts of some capitalists and oppressors to constrain, harass, intimidate and or silence its vision,” he said.
Oke, who is an elder statesman in Osun state, analysed how our common wealth in Nigeria has been mismanaged and resources continuously diverted to some private purses, which he attributed to bad leadership culture imbibed by our politicians and public office holders.
He also mentioned how youth are used and dumped by some bad leaders in the past and even at the present, urging ILF as a leadership organization to be a pillar that will make a difference between a mediocre society and a truly transformative one.
In his own remark, ILF Director of Treasury, Pastor Morayo Clement while giving a brief about the organization, explained that the organization was established some years back to produce, refine and provide leaders with the opportunity to define and address specific developmental needs in a way that sustain positive change, using politics as one of the yardstick.
“We connect young professionals working to gain experience and build community with like-minds colleague, delivers our work through programs and events, providing institutional advice and research on leadership, management and governance in Nigeria,” he said.
