Police Parade Driver For Raping OAU Student, House Wife In Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command have arrested a 30-year-old driver and father of three children, Yusuf Waheed for allegedly raping a middle age housewife and a student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state.
Mr Femi Joseph, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Ondo State command disclosed this at the weekend while parading the suspects to newsmen in Akure.
Joseph said that the suspect was on February 25 this year took some passengers from Akure to Ile-Ife in Osun state when going to Abeokuta, Ogun state.
“After all passengers have highlighted from vehicle, waheed was left with one woman (name withheld) and inmediately drove her to nearby bush and brought out a knife and threatening the woman and disposed her of Infinix handset, Huawei IPad, cash sum of N4,000 and other valuable items.
“As this is not enough, Waheed forcefully had carnal knowledge of the woman. And very disappointing and unfortunate police later swung into an action when the woman decided to come to Akure and reported to us,”he said.
According to him, on receipt of the complaint, detective from SAKS swung into action and Waheed was arrested at Abeokuta, Ogun state with one Infinix handset belonging to the complainant is recovered from him.
“Search warrant was also excuted in the house of suspect and one flash drive with cover of IPad of the victim, Sharon space bus marked KTU 989 CE which is object of the crime was recovered.
“Upon interrogation Waheed confessed to the commission of the crime and he will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations,”he noted.
Joseph who said that the command had declared total war on criminals in the state, urged the people to always be watchful of the type of vehicle they board.
Speaking to newsmen, Waheed said that it was work of devil that push him to the crime.
“I have been driving for over 17 years and this kind thing has never happened to me and I drive for almost 16 years in Abuja in which am not involved in any crime through of my stay.
“I have a wife and three children and I don’t know what come over me may be it is because I relocated to Abeokuta that cause it”, Waheed said.
The police also presented eight other suspects for various offences such as armed robbery, cultism and mobile phone snatcher.
Two secondary school students were among of seven suspected cultists being paraded.
