Iwo SARS Killing: Adeoti, Ogunbiyi , Decry Killing, Call For Calm
The gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti has condemned the killing of a student, Nafiu Tunde, by men of the State Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) in Iwo.
This was contained in statement issued and signed on his behalf by the Media Department of his Campaign Organization.
According to Alhaji Adeoti, the killing has become one too many in view of the current political situation in the state with the governorship election just around the corner.
He also admonished the teeming youths in the area to refrain from further taking the laws into their hands as reflected in the recent destruction of a police station by the irate youths in their spontaneous reaction to the incident.
While Commiserating with the family members of the victim, Alhaji Adeoti called for calm with a view to allowing the men and officers of the security agencies in the state to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to justice.
The ADP governorship candidate praised the efforts of the traditional ruler of the town, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdu-Rasheed Olawale Akanbi (Telu I) for his timely intervention that put a stop to what could have degenerated into a full-blown crisis.
While sharing in the grief of the deceased’s family members over the unfortunate incident, Alhaji Adeoti expressed his shock on the incident and also prayed for them that Almighty Allah will grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
He also adviced all men and officers of the various security agencies on the need to be civil in all their actions, especially when dealing with members of the public.
Also, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic in the state has condemned the brutal killing of Tunde and condoled with the family of the deceased.
In a statement signed and made available to pressmen by his press secretary, comrade Ismail Afolabi,
in Osogbo, the state capital, Saturday, the PDP chieftain urged Nigerian police authority to investigate the remote cause of the incident and take drastic action against it.
He sympathised with the family of the deceased who hailed from his country home; Ile-Ogbo, and prayed to God to grant the family, the fortitude to bear the irredeemable loss.
Ogunbiyi frowned at the incident, stressing that it was unjust and deplorable. He however noted that two wrongs doesn’t make a right and implored aggrieved youths in the community to calm their nerves.
