Russia 2018: “Eagles Will Crush Iceland” -Saka-Layonu SAN

As the Super Eagles of Nigeria warm up for their second group match against Iceland in the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia, a leading governorship aspirant in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state of Osun, Dr. Abiodun Saka-Layonu SAN has said the national side will emerge victorious against their Icelandic counterparts.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant expressed this on Thursday while addressing a cross section of youths in his hometown, Ede after the match between Argentina and Croatia when the Argentines were thrashed 3-0 by the Croatians, thereby boosting the chances of the Eagles to move out of the group.

He said Nigerians must forget about the 2 : 0 defeat suffered by the national team against Croatia in their opening match and support the team as they strive to get to the next stage in football’s most prestigious competition.

Dr. Saka-Layonu SAN who described the national team as one with a lot of energy urged the head coach, Gernot Rohr to make strategic changes in the line up against Iceland on Friday, especially in the attacking line to achieve the winning result.

The Ede born politician who described football as a beautiful sport that unites Nigerians the most added that it commands immeasurable respect particularly in Nigeria because all sentiments like religion, tribe, economic or political class are set aside being laid to rest while the result becomes everyone’s concern.
