Osun Govt Seeks Support For Health Delivery Equipments, As Organisation Donates Vehicles To Ministry

The Osun State Government has called on privileged members of the Public to assist it in providing relevant equipment for rapid healthcare delivery to the people of the state.

The Special Adviser to Governor Rauf Aregbesola on Health, Dr. Gbenga Oyinlola, made the call during the donation of three [3] Toyota Hilux vans to the state ministry of Health in Osogbo.

The Special Adviser stated that the buses provided by the Global Fund Malaria in conjunction with the Malaria Elimination Team will be put to judicious use.

Dr. Oyinlola also appreciated the donors for their activities geared towards helping the government deliver functional healthcare in the state.

In his words, “the distribution of the 2.9 million Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets [LLIN] was very beneficial to the state and with that we are calling on the people to fashion out ways of help the government to assist them in the proper usage of the nets.

The SA also revealed that since it was observed that most of the beneficiaries of the nets were using the LLINs wrongly as window nets, goalposts, fishing nets instead of the intended purpose, the vehicles could not come at the better time as it would be used for monitoring.

He also revealed that there was need to stem the tide of malarial infection in children under the age of 5, pregnant women and sickle cell.

Oyinlola assured the donors that the state would not disappoint them as the vehicles would be put to use where it is needed and promised that by the next monitoring of the state by the organization, there would have been recorded improvements in the health indices.

In his speech, the Director of Global Health Fund, Society for Family Health, Dr. Ernest Nwokolo stated that the donation of the vehicles came about because the organization felt it wise to supports the states where it was used previously for the malaria campaigns.

While hinting that Osun and Adamawa were beneficiaries due to shortfall of resources, he revealed that working in the state was beneficial to the organization and he was glad of the fore knowledge that the vehicles would be put to good use
