Baptist Inaugurates, Dedicates New Church in Jos
By Jide Afolabi, Jos
As part of its vision to expand the kingdom of God on earth, the First Baptist Church, Jos has inaugurated and dedicated its annex Church located at Gamajigo Bida-Bida, along Zaria Road, Jos, Plateau state on Sunday.
The glorious and glamorous event commenced with the unveiling of the plaque by the Minister-In-Charge of the Church, Rev Sunday Abolarinwa Olaleye Fabunmi. This was subsequently followed by cutting of the tape and opening of the doors for congregations to enter for the first worship service in the new Church.
While giving the brief history of the Church, Fabunmi said that the vision began with his immediate predecessor, Rev David Ogunlowo (Rtd) whom he paid glowing tribute to for the vision he had for the Church while in charge. He thanked God for giving him the grace to lay the foundation of the Church in 2016 and for its inauguration and dedication today. He also appreciated the Church Council, departmental heads and entire members of the Church for their supports towards the success of the vision.
While announcing the name of the Church, the Minister of God read from Matthew chapter 16 verses 19 and Romans chapter 8 verses 37. The new Church was thereafter named – Winners Baptist Church, Victory Chapel.
In his sermon titled, “Church that is Built on the Rock” with Bible reading taken from Matthew chapter 16 verses 13-19, Fabunmi noted that Christ was the foundation of the Church. He encouraged the congregation to let their lives be found on the rock. He urged members of the new Church to enter through the door through genuine confession of Jesus Christ.
He said that the blessing of building the Church on the rock is the promise that Christ made that He would give believers’ keys unto heaven and the authority to dominate and subdue the earth. He said, “If your life is founded on the rock, you will have direct access to God’s kingdom and keys of victory, prosperity, deliverance, healing etc. will be released unto you.”
Litany of Dedication was conducted by the Minister of God while Rev (Mrs) Deborah Ayandele and Deacon Amao prayed for the Church, governments and members of the Winners Baptist Church.
