Olagoke Reiterates Call For Free Functional Education For Nigerian Youths

Professor Sabit Ariyo Olagoke,the Founder and Spiritual Head of Shafaudeen In Islam Worldwide has reiterated his call on both the Federal and state Governments to enforce enforce free and functional education for Nigerian youths.

Olagoke who is also the proprietor of Shafudeen Group of Schools made the call at  Wakajaye Ibadan on Saturday while declaring open the 2018 Ishrat of Shafaudeen which started With inter schools sports competition.

He decried the position of some state goverments to education stressing “free and functional education for our children is a matter of must for Nigeria government.

Olagoke said “there is a need for paradigim shift in the way we handle and fund education which is fraught with discrimination and goalless objectives for us to be able to achieve in the area of sustainable development.

The former Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering Federal Polytechnic Ilaro in Ogun state,observed that poor political practices with attendant poverty,hunget  diseases and kleptocracy reflect the absence functionality in our acquired education

Olagoke appealed to all stakeholders in education like the Alumni Associations,International Donor Agencies,teachers  and Parents Teachers Associations to collaborate with one another to ensure the merit is promoted in our educational system.

He also pointed out that enabling environment is required to “deliver service an. fight corruption through sector monitoring  for assessment ,auditing and evaluation and sanitization in ministries and other sectors.

He also lamented that the many challenges in our education sector were so alarming and regretably “underfunding  is the bane of  educational functionality in Nigeria”and government  must address it “Government spends less than 10 percent of the annual budget on education  against the minimum benchmark of 26 percent recommended by UNESCO as allocation to education”Olagoke added.”

Other programs mapped out for the Ishrat 2018 of the mission included symposia ,and lectures by many academics from many universities and polytechnics in the countryandcountry.
