An International Law Expert, Mr Sola Ebire has said that the Nigerian Populace has become not only apathetic, but rebellious against all government institutions, policies and machineries.

Ebire while delivering his lecture at a well attended Stakeholders Forum held in Akure, Ondo State capital at the weekend ahead of 2019 general elections recalled that the era of ‘Oil Boom’ in Nigeria, came up as a manifestation of the machination of the devil which in itself introduced the philosophy of ‘National Cake’ while Nigerians now become opportunists who are only looking for opportunities to cut his or her own Cake.

This philosophy according to him, is a Cankerworm which has unfortunately eaten deep into the fabrics of our national life.

He opined that the axiom “he who pays the Piper dictates the tune” encourages electorates who have the ‘rights’ to ‘vote’ for Candidates of their Choices, into political offices or positions of representation. He said if we have the ‘right’ to vote, it also means that we have the ‘right’ to canvass or to convince people to vote for our preferred Candidates and representatives.

Speaking in the same vein, the Ondo State Chairman of National Progressives Coalition, (NPC) Barrister Steve Ayebo reiterated that the group seeks to propagate and search for patriotic Nigerians, particularly, of the Ondo State extraction who have high integrity, to come on board, to savage the socioeconomic doldrums of ‘our dear society”.

Ayebo however noted that the Coalition is not a political party and that part of its strategies at promoting good governance is by allowing only persons who have Voters’ Cards to be eligible to apply for membership of the Coalition, stressing that membership are open to technocrats, public servants, artisans and other well meaning Nigerians.

In his short remarks, the National Chairman of the group, Chief Daniel Magnus Oyowe hinted that the Coalition “is a nongovernmental forum poised to ensure good governance, ensuring right candidate in particular office and making sure that they fulfil their obligations to the masses and most importantly, we will educate non educated Nigerians on their rights to good governance, especially in the rural areas. We will ensure that all elected officers are visibly accountable”.

Chief Oyowe maintained that “Nigerians are resourceful and we will create enabling environment for every Nigerian to show their dexterity in their various field of specialization”. Saying that government should be institutional and not individualistic.

National Progressives Coalition (NPC) is a nongovernmental and nonpolitical group which major objective is to promote good governance in all the states and vital sectors of Nigeria.
