Man, 35, Docked  Over Alleged Theft, Property Damage In Osun

A 35-year-old man, Ayodele Oguntayo was on Monday docked before an Osogbo Magistrate over alleged theft and damaged of properties in Osun.

Oguntayo was said to have committed the offense sometimes in December, 2017 in Osogbo.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Taiwo Adegoke told the court that  the accused person converted one Giant Ox fan valued N25,000 and one Big four faces electric hot plate valued 15,000 belonging to one Leke Akintayo to his use.

The prosecutor added that accused person maliciously damaged four Air Conditioners valued N240,000 and one big generator valued N150,000 in Lake-Side Hotel, he said the damage properties belong to Akintayo.

He further explained that the accused allegedly threatened to kill  the complainant barely 5pm, at Dada Estate Osogbo.

Adegoke said the accused person alao prevented justice by disallowing police to execute search warrant in their possession.

He submitted that the offence committed was contrary to Section 388, 451, 86, and 126 and punishable under Section 390, 451 of the Criminal code Cap.34  Volume II Laws of Osun State, 2003.

But the accused pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge slammed against him.

In his ruling, Magistrate Modupe Awodele granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with 2 sureties in like sum.

Awodele said the sureties must be residents within the court jurisdiction and provide the court evidence of tax payments and two passports sized photographs, attached with an affidavit of means.

He also said one of the sureties must be civil servant and the addresses of the sureties must be verified by the prosecutor. The status of the civil servant should be endorsed by his/her superior.

The magistrate adjourned the case till April 30, 2018 for hearing.
