Here I Am, Send Me — Oluomo Sunday Akere
HERE I AM, SEND ME – OLUOMO SUNDAY AKERE
It gives me great pleasure to write this little piece to you eminent leaders and opinion moulders in Ila Federal Constituency consisting of Ila, Boluwaduro and Ifedayo local governments on my desire to represent you in the Federal House of Representatives in the forthcoming election scheduled for 16th of February, 2019 on the platform of the ACTION DEMOCRATIC PARTY (ADP).
My decision to vie for this position in the hallowed “Green Chambers” primarily stems from the fact that our constituency deserves an active presence in terms of articulation of points and ideas to better cement the good legacies our representatives have laid down in the almost twenty (20) years of the current political dispensation. Added to this is my desire to give a face and voice of involvement to the decision of leaders in our Federal Constituency in 2014 that representation for this position shall accord adequate recognition to fairness, equity and justice by ensuring that Boluwaduro gets the opportunity to field the candidate for 2019 without sacrificing quality for mediocrity.
For the record, I am a thorough bred progressive of long standing that have stood by the side of the people to defend what is just at all times. I started as a young man in the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) of Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo when Baba was contesting in 1979. From there,I have served in various capacities in the SDP, UNCP, GDM, PPP, AD, AC, ACN & APC assisting in building and entrenching the progressive service oriented legacy in the mind of our people. Even at the thick period of our agitation for return of power to the progressive family in Osun State between 2003 to 2010, my resolve to stand by my people never wavered even with my unjust incarceration at Ile Ife Prison by the then PDP administration. For well over ten years, yours truly was the Secretary of our party and the progressive movement in the Federal Constituency until early this year.
And in my three years and three months of service as the Commissioner for Information and Strategy during the first term of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the evidence stands till date that I assisted the vision of the government to bring a positive change to information dissemination and delivery in the state.
And for the record, the Ila Federal Constituency seat is a joint heritage of three sons of the same father viz Ila, Boluwaduro and Ifedayo. The first son Boluwaduro represented us through Dr Lanre Idowu between 1999 to 2003 before handing over the baton to the second son Ifedayo who represented us too between 2003 to 2007 through Prof Sola Adeyeye. Since 2007 till now spanning a period of twelve (12) good years, the third son Ila has been the one representing us with Hon Ismaila Kolawole (2007-2011) and Hon Femi Fakeye (2011-2019). It was in a desire to stem the perceived fear of domination and one sided representation that made leaders in the Federal Constituency to enter into an agreement in 2014 that come 2019, Boluwaduro should be given the opportunity to present our representative (see attached).
It is therefore my desire to respectfully ask leaders and opinion moulders in our constituency to give me the opportunity to represent you in the ninth HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. If given the chance, I will bring a change by seeing to the alleviation of poverty, creation of job opportunities for our teeming youths, restore the glory of the State College of Education, Ila Orangun, work towards a boost in revenue generation from Tourism and make life more meaningful for our farmers.
While not trying to bore you with a lengthy epistle, I offered myself to serve by saying”HERE I AM, SEND ME”. Once again, I am contesting on the banner of ACTION DEMOCRATIC PARTY (ADP), the Credible Alternative.
