Aregbeola Remains The Best Governor In The Current Political Dispensation, Says Aide, Bola Oyebamiji
The Commissioner for Finance in Osun State, Hon Bola Oyebamiji has asserted that none of the 36 Governors in Nigeria could match and compete with what Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbeola did in terms of socioeconomic and infrastructure development in the last seven and a half years.
He described Osun as the only state in Nigeria where the state’s largest resources were dedicated to advance human and capital development through the provision of enduring legacies across sectors.
Oyebamiji made this known while fielding questions from journalists in Osogbo, the capital of Osun.
He affirmed that Aregbesola remains the best governor Osun has ever had in the history of the state.
Oyebamiji noted that the present administration has performed excellently and satisfactorily well in all sectors of the economy as reflected in the successes recorded since assumption of office.
The Finance Commissioner described Aregbesola as the performing governor whose developmental projects had placed the state to world’s centre state of infrastructure development.
According to him, Osun remains the best among its peers in view of good and quality leadership.
“Osun is of particular importance because it is an agrarian state with little resources, dwindling national income but yet has been able to provide enviable records in terms of human development index”, Oyebamiji added.
He noted that in the history of the state since its creation, no any Governor has performed superbly well beyond Governor Aregbesola, saying Aregbesola has through his performance set pace for other states to emulate.
Commending Osun workers for their patience and perseverance, Oyebamiji said Governor Aregbesola would soon begin payment of full salary.
He said some measures are being put in place by the Governor to boost the economy of the State.
He said the state government has successfully tackled the problem of irregular payment of salaries to the delight of the entire workforce of the state, resulting in the overall improvement in the welfare of the citizens.
Oyebamiji explained that with the modulated salary, workers on levels one to seven, who constitute 67 per cent of workforce, are paid full salaries, while those on grade levels eight to 12, 25 per cent of workforce, receive 75 per cent of their salaries.
He added that workers on grade levels 13 to 17, a mere 8 per cent of workforce, as well as all political appointees, receive 50 per cent of their salaries.
“Governor Aregbesola, though unhappy to pay the modulated salary to the workers, said the state was compelled by its financial reality to adopt it to tackle the menace of irregular payment of salaries.
He said the modulated salary was also necessitated by the desire of his administration to provide massive infrastructure, develop the state economically and transform Osogbo into a modern state capital.
Oyebamiji however vowed that the issue of modulated salary would soon become a thing of the past in the state.
He also used the opportunity to appeal to the citizens and residents of the state to pay their taxes and other levies, saying, “it’s part of the civic responsibility”.
