Senate Resumes Plenary After Invasion
Jide Afolabi
Senate has resumed plenary with a new mace after the invasion of the senate chambers by hoodlums who carted the mace away.
The Senate has immediately gone into a closed door session after the invasion.
Unidentified persons had earlier stormed the senate chambers during the plenary disrupting proceedings.
Reports say the hoodlums are supporters of the suspended Senator, Ovie Omo-Agege.
Ovie Omo-Ageg was suspended for 90 legislative days on compassionate ground as stated by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki last Thursday.
The Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges had in their report recommended suspension of Omo-Agege for 180 legislative days for misconduct.
The invaders snatched the mace and took it away while plenary was ongoing.
Security has been heightened around the National Assembly Complex.
CityMirrorNews could not confirm the legitimacy of the usage of a new mace.
