Pandemonium As Explosion Rocks UniOsun, 10 Students Reportedly Injured

There was pandemonium on the campus of Osun State University (UniOsun), Osogbo, on Thursday, as a fire extinguisher allegedly exploded and injured several students.
CityMirrorNews gathered that the incident happened at around 1:00pm, when students of Anatomy and Physiology were receiving lectures in one of the Health Sciences College halls of the university.
The fire extinguisher, which was reported to have been attached to the classroom wall where the lecture was going-on, suddenly exploded and students inhaled the content causing suffocation and incessant coughing.
The suffocation made the entire students who were receiving lectures at the time the incident occurred attempted to rush out and there was stampede.
The stampede however caused lot of students wounded and sustained various degree of injuries.
The incident caused commotion on the campus as everybody was running helter skelters resulting in the proccess severe injuries to students.
The team of medical personnel of the university had hectic time trying to rescue students as they used university ambulances to rush wounded students to hospital in batches.
As at the time of filling this report, it was not certain the number of casualties,but it was gathered that no fewer than ten students sustained severe injuries as a result of the explosion from the fire extinguishers.
Reacting to the incident on behalf of the university, Professor Anthony Kola Olasanya, Director Inter campus and Public Affairs confirmed the incident.
He said no life was lost to the incident adding that those that sustained injuries are being attended to by team of medical personnel from the university medical service.
He denied that the media report of explosion saying it was fire extinguishers that released it content which some students inhaled.
