Osun Poll: SDP Will Revamp Osun Economy, If Voted, Lawal
The deputy governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in Osun state, Azeez Yemi Lawal has said that the ticket he jointly holds with the party’s candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore is for the revamping of the state.
Speaking at a brief interactive session with media practitioners in Osogbo on Thursday, Lawal said SDP will restore the lost glory of the state when elected at the September 22nd governorship poll.
He lashed at the administrationof Governor Rauf Aregbesola saying the present government has been very lazy and unproductive.
“Myself and Senator Omisore are here to restore the lost glory of osun because the present government is very lazy,” he argued.
The Osun-born businessman cum politician, added that the present administration could not boast of any infrastructure that has a human face. He said many of the infrastructural projects sprouted in the state had not affected the state positively and were not socially justifiable.
According to the aspirant, “Many people and many employers have been subjected to untold hardship as a result of the city beautification going on in the state. The government claimed to be doing all these for the sake of the people when there is no replacement – a better one as a matter of fact. The present administration is lazy and unwilling to stand up to their feet.
He also decried the dearth of human resources mismanagement in the state over how graduates are empowered with brooms to sweep streets as against applying the skills they had acquired.
Lawal said, “This is so degrading. How can I call giving brooms to graduate to sweep as empowerment? Irrespective of the amount they are given at the wnd of the month, the fact remains that they are degraded by not applying what they have acquired back in school and over time, they become dullards.”
The Deputy Governorship candidate however called on the members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm to be socially responsible while discharging their duties as they hold a key position in shaping people’s opinions.
He stated that journalists, over time had been recognised as main brain behind every development, emphasising that the role of the media could not be overemphasised.
The 36-year old aspirant said, “It is not an overstatement that the media determines what happens in the society. They have the power to turn a devil to a glorified person with just few words and can as well turn the minds of the public against an individual if they so wish. I will only implore you to please allow yourselves to be guided by what is right and not carry out your job in the interest of some few people.”
He assured all and sundry of restoring the state’s lost glory if his party emerged
Victorious in the forthcoming Gubernatorial election, saying that the ticket he jointly holds with the party’s candidate, senator Iyiola Omisore is for the restoration of the state.
” Senator Omisore and myself are here to restore the lost glory of osun because the present government is very lazy,” he stressed.
Lawal is a 36-year old man from Apomu in Isokan local government area of Osun is a graduate of Demographic and statistics from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
He is a graduate of Demography and Social Statistics, from the Obafemi Awolowo University, said the party was displeased with the manner at which the state’s affair was being run, noting that the economy of the state plumetted for resources were unjudicioisly deployed.
