Ile-Ogbo Day: Ogunbiyi Announces Multimillion Interventions Fund For Community Devp
Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, an Ile-Ogbo born politician and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has donated 10 million naira as interventions fund for development of the ancient city.
Ogunbiyi on Saturday committed the funds to actualising developmental projects in the community, during this year’s Ile Ogbo Day Anniversary, held at Community High school, Ile-Ogbo in Ayedire local government area of the state.
In his welcome address, the chartered insurer highlighted the need for individuals and communities to get involved in addressing infrastructural deficits and unemployment issues.
His words: “in view of the palpable paucity of funds in the country, attributed to the fall in global oil prices, among others, the need arises for communities such as ours to get involved in addressing infrastructural deficits and unemployment issues. To this end, a day like this has been set aside for sons and daughters of Ile-Ogbo to gather, and celebrate our joint heritage.”
“I, like many other Ile-Ogbo indigenes, home and abroad have made and still making contributions towards the development of the community.”
“At this point, I have also decided to formalise these interventions with the institutionalisation of the Idera De Movement which will serve as a vehicle for other projects that will be beneficial to humanity,” Ogunbiyi said while making the donation.
He named uplifting of educational facilities, youths development, empowerment, road rehabilitation and several other infrastructural development as the lofty projects that the city strive to actualise and called on every indigene, resident and well wisher of the city to heed the clarion call.
Ogunbiyi rejoiced with His Royal Majesty, Oba Abeeb Adetoyese Agbeje, the Olu of Ile-Ogbo and thanked other royal fathers, distinguished guests, and host of his supporters for gracing the anniversary.
Led by Chief Shuaib Oyedokun, a PDP stalwart, scores of his invitees including Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa, PDP senatorial candidate for Osun State, Alhaji Mudasiru Lukman, PDP Federal Representative candidate for Iwo Federal Constituency and several others also donated towards the community development.
