Redeemer’s University Matriculates 550 Students

The Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun state, has matriculated 550 students and the fourth set of scholarship awarded to the indigenes of its host community, Ede.

Speaking at the 13th matriculation on Friday, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Debo Adeyewa, stated that 50 of the students are for Post Graduate studies.

Professor Adeyewa who stated that full scholarship is awaiting any student that distinguished himself or herself in the study, promised that the university would continue to encourage good learning.

He urged the students to be of good conduct noting that the matriculation has conferred on them, full membership of the university.

Advising the students to make use of the university’s library to enrich their knowledge, Adeyewa assured that the library has been equipped to enable the students excel academically.

He said with millions of naira the university is spending on infectious diseases as part of its efforts to solve national problems, the federal government has not been given support to encourage them.

“We are the only university that has been addressing the issues scientifically. We have done research on Lassa fever. We are behind the screen providing solutions to Lassa fever.

However, Adeyewa called for more collaboration, saying the university has been using its money to solve public problems.

“Our centre of excellence is currently supporting the containment of the nationwide Lassa fever scourge being managed at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo state.

“As a foremost institution known for excellence, Redeemer’s University hosts the World Bank supported African Centre of Excellence for the Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID) engaged in cutting-edge research which has provided much needed panacea to the outbreak of such hemorrhagic fevers as Ebola Virus Disease, Lassa Fever and Monkey Pox, among others both locally and internationally.

“I admonish you to be focus, diligent and law abiding. Throughout your stay at Redeemer’s University, always remember that dreams do not become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.

“Accordingly, you are encouraged to ensure that you attend lectures regularly, and make use of library facilities to enrich and deepen your knowledge in your chosen field of study.
