Owoeye’s Alleged Ritual Video Is A Political Machination – APC Chieftains
There is anxiety in Osun State over the source and motive of an unclad video of the Majority Leader of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Timothy Owoeye that has gone viral.
The video which surfaced on notable WhatsApp groups on Saturday evening showed Owoeye unclad in a bush with people asking questions from him on what he was doing there.
Checks across the country reveal that the video is now trending on most online and social media platforms with members of the opposition parties feeding fat on it to score political points.
A cross section of those that shared the video alluded that he was caught by some members of the community for bathing naked in the midnight in the area for some rituals.
Further investigations in the camp of the APC from Saturday night till the early hours of Sunday morning revealed that the purported video was recorded few months ago when the embattled lawmaker was kidnapped by some hoodlums.
The hoodlums according to a post by Hon Rotimi Makinde took the House Majority leader to a bush and stripped him of his nakedness. They took clips of his condition and demanded for a N50m ordering him not to inform the police on the matter.
After an undisclosed amount of money was paid to the assailants, he returned to his residence while police investigations led to some arrests with some suspects detained.
However, several calls and messages from strange numbers were sent to Hon Owoeye few weeks ago demanding for huge sums of money which was said to be rebuffed by the lawmaker.
The lawmaker on the receipt of these calls was said to have been threatened not to voice out as any report of the said incident will lead to making the video go viral.
Reacting, Commissioner for Science, Innovation and Technology, Hon Remi Omowaiye, said the 13 seconds video clip is in an attempt to rubbish Owoeye hard earned name
Omowaiye further explained that the Osun lawmaker was stripped naked, beaten and subjected to ridicule, molestation and dehumanization which was seen in the clip.
According to him, Owoeye was lucky to have escaped in the hands of the business fraudsters, who later turned to be kidnappers and assailants.
“I want to call on discerning minds to carefully X-ray the clip, no traces of human or animal blood was sighted as been falsely peddled around, the clip was released to score undue political point by a chieftain of a major opposition party who had access to the video clip after a failed attempt to stop the procession of those arrested .The Nigeria Police has recovered substantial amount of the swindled amount from those arrested.”
An aide to Owoeye, Sunkanmi Obisesan, said the video is apt to state categorically that Owoeye was forcibly dragged to a spot and held hostage on July 7th, 2018 after he was swindled of several millions of naira over a failed transaction.
Obisesan said ” As a mark of appreciation to God, Hon. Timothy Owoeye had a Thanksgiving service on July 22nd, following the divine escape from the den of kidnappers.”
“Hon Owoeye is not involved in any ritual whatsoever but a pure victim of circumstance, that his rise politically is a common heritage of Grace of God which he cherishes a lot. ”
“People are advised to disregard the clip in its entirety as the court will be his last resort to seek redress to the unjust hardship he is/was subjected to.”
” The Nigeria police is expected to issue a statement to clear the air based on their over two months investigation of the failed attempt on Hon. Timothy Owoeye’s life.
Sources in the fold of the ruling party in Osun State are said to be emotionally perturbed by the development.
Other Key stakeholders in the APC have remained silent on the issue just as speculations continue to gather momentum on the relevance of the alleged act to the September 22 governorship election.
This medium also gathered authoritatively that the Osun State Police Command will in the next few hours react to the development due to the politically tensed situation of the state.
