Eid-eil-Fitri: Ogunkanmi Felicitates With Muslims, Urges Parents To Protect Their Childrens Against Negative Influence

The Former Executive Secretary of Ayedire local government area of Osun state, Hon. Abidemi Gbenga Ogunkanmi has felicitated with Muslim faithfuls across the state on the celebration of this year Eid-el-fitri after the successful completion of the period.

Ogunkanmi in a congratulatory message he personally signed and made available to CityMirrorNews on Friday, urged Muslims to maintain steadfastness.

He further enjoined Muslims to always uphold the teachings of and lessons of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Rauf Aregbesola, however used the season to advise the parents on the need to always protect their children against negative influence in the society.

Ogunkanmi who condemned religious extremists for giving Islam a bad name, urged Muslim parents to protect their children from the negative influences of those who preached hate and intolerance.

He also called on political leaders at all levels to have the fear of God give priority to the interest of their people they are representing in their various political zones.

Urging leaders to use power fairly and justly, Ogunkanmi stressed the need for politicians to be accessible to the people instead of living in fortresses of power that detached them from the reality of the people.

“Leadership is about service to the people and there are numerous examples in the tradition of Prophet Muhammed SAW and his followers like Umar, who left their comfort zones to feel the hardship on the poor in the society,” he further stated.

He called on Muslims to show greater commitment to peace, unity and tolerance in order to create harmony and understanding in the country.

He identified unity as one of the condition for building a formidable nation, adding that without unity, a country was politically vulnerable.

He added that in the absence of peace, even religion would be hard to practice, and that citizens should not take peace for granted.
