Attacks: Plateau Govt Imposes Curfew on Bassa Communities

Following recent incessant attacks on Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau state by suspected herdsmen, where people were reportedly killed, the Plateau Government has declared a dusk to dawn curfew in the local government.
This was contained in a press release signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Rufus Bature in Jos on Wednesday.
The statement said that Gov. Simon Lalong, approved the curfew in consultation with security agencies, noting that the curfew would be within 6 p.m and 6 a.m daily.
The statement reads, “Consequently, security agencies in area have been mandated to enforce the curfew.
“Law abiding citizens are advised to go about their lawful businesses”, he added.
On Wednesday, gunmen attacked Dong community of Jos south killing three persons, and setting ablaze 11 houses and four cars.
Suspected armed herdsmen in the early hours of Tuesday also attacked and killed 25 people in Bassa as confirmed by the police.
Last week, five youths were killed in Bassa and have been given mass burial on Wednesday.
President Muhammadu Buhari visited the state last week where he called for calm and restraint ensuring the state of adequate security of lives and property.
