Ondo Govt Sacks Sunshine Stars Coach, Udi Over Misconduct

Ondo State Government on Tuesday sacked the Head Coach of its Premier League side, Sunshine Stars, Duke Udi and appointed former Coach of the team, Henry Abiodun to take over the team with immediate effect.
Udi’s sack was contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner For Sports and Youth Development, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye and made available to newsmen in Akure.
Yusuf-Ogunleye said his ministry took the decision following letters received from the Ondo State Football Agency over the act of insubordination and gross misconduct of coach Udi.
The commissioner noted that management board of the club and the ministry decided to part ways with the coach after its joint meeting.
Yusuf-Ogunleye said that the management agreed that Abiodun should take over the team till further notice.
“Following a letter received from the management board of Ondo State Football Agency on misconduct and insubordination of the head coach of d Sunshine Stars Duke Udi with CAF Licence C category.
“The management board and the Ministry of Youth and Sports management at a joint meeting today (Tuesday) agreed that coach Duke Udi should step aside with effect from today 13th March and that the Technical Director of the team, Coach Henry Abiodun with CAF licence A should lead d team,” the statement said.
Sunshine Stars are 17th on the NPFL log with 13 points from 12 matches and will play Yobe Deserts on Sunday in Akure.
