Edo LG Prospects For Milage In Agriculture

Orhionmwon Local Government Area in Edo state is prospecting for milage in agriculture that would boost its revenue profile and better the lots of rural dwellers.

Already disclosed plans to acquire 20, 000 hectares of land for the cultivation of arable crops such as cassava, cocoyam and maize.

The Chairman of Orhionmwon Local Government Area, Mr. Okoro Sylvester who dropped the hint at an interactive meeting with senior staff of the Council, assured that the existing 10, 000 hectares of palm and plantain plantations will be revived for optimal production.

Okoro who promised to make agriculture his priority, promised to procure milling machines and installed to process the products for the Communities and Abudu, headquarters of Orhionmwon Local Government Area.

He charged rural people in the locality to leverage on the comparative advantage of the Council, which is agriculture, adding that his government will provide an enabling environment for business to thrive.

According to him, “Orhionmwon local government need to be up again, and the only way we can quickly do that is through agriculture”.
