Osun Statistician-General Advocates Regular Payment Of Taxes

The Osun State Statistician-General Prof. Wasiu Gbolagade, has advocated the need for citizens to pay their taxes regularly in order to help the state government realize it’s goals.
Gbolagade who implored people of the state to as a matter of civic responsibility pay their taxes said it would allow the smooth running of the administration.
The statistician-General made the plead while speaking with newsmen in Osogbo over the weekend.
According to him, it’s difficult for the government to make progress without resources and the fund coming from federal purse is nothing to go by considering the kinds of infrastructural development going on in the state.
He said, if the indigenes of the state is paying their taxes regularly, the government will have robust resources that can sustained it in the course of governance.
He said he believes that by so doing, the government can execute programmes such as infrastructural development including motorable roads, schools, hospitals among others.
Gbolagade also posited that, if an average of #100 is being paid by single individual that are due for the payment of tax in the state with the population of over 5million, the state will be less dependant of anything coming from federal purse, hence will be boast enough to cater for its needs.
He stressed that, the government knows the yearning of the people in the state but incapacitated by lack of funds to cater for them but if the people of the state most especially those that owns companies cultivate the habit of paying their tax regularly, the state will sing a new song
He maintained that, payment of tax is statutory obligations of every indigene of the state and those that owns companies in the state to allow the smooth running of the government.
” We are concerns about the altitude of our people towards payment of their tax, its their civic respinsibilities just as the government has responsilities of protecting their lives and properties and provide social amenties for them, am only imploring them to please cultivate the habit of paying their taxes”. He added
The statitician general of the state however reitrated the efforts of the present administration in making life meaningful for the people in the state but urged them to play their role in paying taxes.
