Parliamentary System : Aregbesola Has Set A Pace For Others To Follow-Guber Aspirant

A gubernatorial aspirant in the coming governorship election in Osun State, Dr Saka Abiodun Layonu has described the parliamentary system of government, introduced by Governor Rauf Aregbesola in all the local governments in the state as a laudable democratic paradigm, worthy of emulation.

The legal luminary who is also one of the leader gubernatorial aspirant, on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC), made the remarks on Friday, while playing host to councilors on the platform of APC  from Ede North and South  local government areas of the state.

Emphasising on the important of the parliamentary system of government to the development of any nation, Layonu noted that the system would relief the country from unnecessary financial burden.

According to him, “parliamentary system of government is less expensive and far better than that of presidential system of government that we are practicing in Nigeria.

Layonu commended  the governor for taking a bold step in the quest for new democratic alternative to the present presidential system, saying he has set a dynamic pace for other governors to follow.

He  added that the landslide victory of the party in the just concluded Local Government election remained a pointer to the fact that the party is still popular amongst the electorate.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria adduced the strength of the party in the state to “unprecedented performance ” of the Governor,  adding that the state has never had it so good since it was created.

Layonu singled out improved infrastructural facility and renewed security architecture, coupled with dynamic educational policy of Aregbesola administration as indelible legacy of sort.

“We have a cause to celebrate as a party,  despite all odds,  the experience of the people of Osun in the last seven years has been awesome,  the state has experienced accelerated transformation in both infrastructure and human capital.

“Look at the brilliant initiative of a viable democratic alternative at the grassroots,  the parliamentary system of government in our local governments, which will automatically eradicate autocracy and waste.

“This outstanding performance of governor Aregbesola in all ramifications gives us a resounding confidence of victory in the coming election,” he resorted.

Layonu however enjoined the newly elected councilors to work tirelessly for the people they represent,  and fulfil the essence of local government administration by bringing government nearer to the people.

Speaking, an APC chieftain, Alhaji Suleiman Alao commended Layonu for organizing such a programme, saying it was an avenue for all the party members to celebrate their victory.

He urged all the newly elected parliamentarians to compliment Aregbesola’s efforts in his bid to develop the state by  using their new position to better their lives of the people in their immediate environment.

Speaking, the Chairman, National Union of Road Transportation Workers NURTW, Ede North  branch, Akeem Olanrewaju and Alhaji Ismaila Olaiya, Babaloja of Ede land, vowed to give their supports to Layonu in the coming governorship election.

The duo described Barr Layonu as a philanthropist who has been using his influence and position to better the life of many within and outside the community.

Also speaking on behalf of the students, the National President, Federation of Edeland Students Union, Adio Harun Kolapo gave Layonu’s ambitions a pat at the back, saying the Ede born politician has assisted number of students in their educational pursuits.
