AGF Loses National Coordinator, Expresses Rude Shock

….Commends Osinbajo, Ojudu, Others For Being Proactive , Pleads For Assistancr For Deceased’s Family

This is not the best of time for the foremost Tinubu’s political group in Nigeria, Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation, AGF, as the group sadly lost its National Coordinator; Otunba Adeleye Akintola, a vibrant and progressive young man from Ekiti State to the cold hands of death on Wednesday 7th November, 2018 at a Lagos hospital.

In a statement released on Thursday in Osogbo and signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the Foundation, Comrade Adeboye Adebayo, the foundation expressed rude shock over the sudden death of its leader but takes solace in the fact that he lived a selfless life though not yet materially rewarded but very worthy of note.

“We woke up on Wednesday to the sad news of the sudden and untimely death of our National coordinator; Otunba Adeleye Akintola, he was at the midst of a meeting to strategise for the Buhari/Osinbajo Presidential Campaign in Lagos where he suddenly slumped and quickly rushed to a hospital for prompt medical care after which the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo was adequately briefed by Senator Babafemi Ojudu; the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters and immediately the Vice president, Yemi Osinbajo commissioned his personal physician to take charge of the treatment for adequate monitoring and medical care before he eventually gave up the ghost on Wednesday afternoon” Adebayo said.

“With deepest sense of sadness, rude shock but gratitude to the Almighty God, we are announcing the sudden and untimely death of our National coordinator; Otunba Adeleye Akintola who was survived by a wife and three young children” the statement noted.

Describing the late National Coordinator, Adebayo said “Our late National Coordinator was an embodiment of hardwork, loyalty, selfless service and a party man to the core. He was a great mobiliser, organiser, bridge builder and a indeed a friend to all, he will be greatly missed personally and indeed as a group”.

The group commended the Vice President; Yemi Osinbajo, the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters; Babafemi Ojudu, the entire members of the Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation; AGF and other friends and well-wishers of the late Coordinator for their prompt actions, response and being proactive in the course of saving his live at the last minute.

“We must not fail to appreciate the uncommon kind gesture of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo in saving the life of our man, immediately he was briefed, he swung into action and together with Senator Ojudu, they were monitoring his condition in the hospital despite their very tight schedule, we thank them so greatly and we also plead with them that this is the time we need them most to give an adequate lifeline to the family left behind by the deceased through a gainful employment to the wife and endowment fund that will take care of the upkeep and most especially the education of the young children till University level among others” Adebayo pleaded.

“We must not also fail to recognize and appreciate the National Executive Council of the Foundation led by its Secretary; Hon. Alli Balogun, the entire State Councils and indeed the entire members of the Foundation, friends and well-wishers of the deceased for their actions, prompt responses and indeed huge prayers to avert the untimely death but God knows best as we lack enough words to thank all” the statement noted.

However, the National Secretariat of the Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation; AGF has scheduled a meeting for Sunday in Ibadan to be attended by various interest groups, friends, relations and well-wishers to discuss other salient issues like the burial arrangements and the upkeep of the family.

The corpse of the deceased had since be deposited at the Lagos hospital morgue where he died.

The group prayed that the soul of beloved, selfless and agile departed rest in peace.
