Fire Destroys Building At Oke-fia Area Of Osogbo

Properties worth thousands of naira were destroyed in an inferno that ravaged a storey building located at around Zenith Bank, off Alekuwodo, Okefia area Osogbo, Osun State capital, on Friday night, destroying completely properties in the building.
The source of the fire according to an eyewitness, who informed CityMirrorNews cannot be ascertained.
He added that the fire which started around 9:00pm on Friday night started from the back side of one of the rooms upstairs.
It was gathered that all properties in the building were totally burnt as no property was recovered from the scene after the incident.
One of the occupant of the burnt building who spoke under the condition of anonymity said few minutes after listening to a programme on radio, he started hearing fire, fire.
According to him, “as I was relaxing on my bed I heard the shout of fire, fire, fire outside with people calling me to come outside. At first, I thought it was one of those distance calling, but when the voice was persistent I quickly ran.
He hinted that though, he could not say categorically the causes of the fire incident but he was later informed that the fire outbreak was caused by a cooking gas in one of the co-tenant in the room.
According to information from my people, the inferno started from that person’s room before it later escalated to the whole building, though I have not yet confirmed the authenticity of this allegation” he said
“The Osun State firefighters came to our rescue but there is a barrier by the side that restricted their operations.
Though nobody died or was injured from the incident but all properties in all building were burnt without sparing a pin,” he said.
