Absence Of Judge Stalls Arraignment Of Alleged Killer Of Senator Adeleke
Absence of presiding Judge, Justice Ayo Oyebiyi, in the case of the nurse who treated Senator Isiaka Adeleke before his death, Alfred Aderibigbe, on Wednesday, stalled the arraignment of the nurse.
Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara-led coroner inquest had recommended the nurse for prosecution, having established that he administered a drug overdose on the late Senator, thus causing his death.
Aderibigbe had during evidence before the coroner, said the drugs he gave the late Senator were those given to him by Adeleke and not in overdose.
But, the Chief Medical Director of Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Prof. Akeem Lasisi, said Adeleke died of drug overdose.
The Consultant Pathologist, who carried out the autopsy on Adeleke’s corpse, Dr Taiwo Sholaja, also told the coroner that he died of drug overdose.
When the suspect was brought to the state High Court, Ede, court clerks told, counsel to the suspect, Soji Oyetayo, that the Judge has traveled.
The Solicitor General for the state, Dapo Adeniji, however agreed with Oyetayo and picked June 8, for arraignment of the suspect.
