The siege to the National Assembly by State Security Service (SSS) operatives yesterday has continue to draw a lot of reaction from opposition parties and individuals, just as a security expert, and member of the American Society of Industrial Experts (ASIS) Jackson Olalekan Ojo has added his voice to the general condemnation of the invasion.

Olalekan Ojo who is one of the leading Security Experts in Nigeria who spoke with CityMirrorNews however described the siege as “a serious security breach under a very tensed atmosphere”.

Scores of senators and members of the House of Representatives were initially blocked from entering the National Assembly premises, but later allowed to move in after threatening to force their way in.

The security operatives who also stopped staff members of the National Assembly as well as journalists and other independent observers of legislative process said they were acting on orders from above.

Olalekan Ojo also a chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) who praised the acting President, Yemi Osinbajo for the prompt decisive action taken on the siege of the National Assembly saying that the action taken by Osinbajo has reassured Nigerians that security operatives and Nigerians Armed Forces are under the authority of constitutionally elected Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces and would not be deployed for undemocratic purposes.

According to him, the action would be a clear signal to other overzealous security Chiefs that the law of the land is bigger than them, their offices and even those that appointed them to that office.

He said, “This siege was a serious security breach under a very tensed atmosphere, the senators might want to seek self help and because of the high levels of poverty, willing hands for self helps are enormously large in numbers ready to do whatever at a very low rate of #2,000.

“It is the highest interest of democratic institutions in Nigeria that the acting President action on the approval of the Commander in-chief to sack Lawal Daura who is a very close relation to Mr President.

“I want to honestly appreciate the matured ways the affected senators handled the embarrassing situation.
But, the information sent to the public was the opposite of what actually happened. The PDP pro Saraki Senator were suspecting an abstract foul game and they prepared for it but the negative impressions they wanted to create against the ruling APC was already deflated by the swift action of the presidency sacking Daura”.
