The Accountant General of Osun State, Mr Akintayo Alaba Kolawole has bowed out of the Civil Service.

Kolawole bowed out service after reaching the retirement age of 60 and 35 mandatory years of service.

However, there are reports that he resigned because of plans by the Governor Rauf Aregbesola led government to malign him and forcefully hold on to him to cover up as he leaves in November.

The reports even said Kolawole’s appointment had been extended by the Governor to accommodate him pending the expiration of his government.

Reasons why the Accountant General left despite his said extension of service period was adduced to the fact that he did not want to release monies to the government for electioneering and that he had written all banks that as from Monday, September 10, he would not be held responsible for all monies collected on behalf of the state.

Findings by CityMirrorNews however showed contrary as the actions of the former Accountant General were said to have been political and self serving.

Sources told CityMirrorNews in Osogbo, the State capital on Saturday that the Governor’s refusal to grant Kolawole tenure elongation as done for other top government officials made him leave office.

The sources who said Kolawole should have mandatory retired on July 31st, 2018 was expecting a tenure elongation which did not come before the last Eid El Kabir festival when he clocked 60.

“I have also been reading reports that he voluntarily resigned. He did not resign. He has since clocked 60 and mandatorily, he should have left the civil service.”

“There are indications and confirmed insinuations that because he was not granted tenure elongation, he has since resorted to the use of the media to blackmail the government of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in Osun State. ”

“If truly he has resigned and his tenure not extended, he could have not been working up till the moment he wrote the letter to banks saying he is no more responsible for Osun Funds from September 10. They are just using everything to blackmail Aregbesola. ”

As at the time of filing this report, the ongoing controversy has made the Osun State Government order his immediate surbodinate to take over from him as Acting Accountant General.

Further details into the raging controversy will be brought to your way as the story continues to develop.
