Monarch Calls For Adequate Budgetary Allocation For Security Agencies

The Oluwo of Iwoland in Osun, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi has called for increased budgetary allocation for security agencies in the country.
Oba Akanbi said that the funding of security agencies in the country when compared to advanced counteries was very low.
The monarch made the observation while the Divionel Officers (DOS) of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun West Senatirial District paid him a courtesy visit in his palace in Iwo.
Oba Akanbi said that sanity could only return to the country when government started operating a working and effective policing.
The 10-man Dos led by the new Area Commander, Mr. Sanusi Hussein commended the moral and financial support of Oluwo on the renovation of the new area office in Iwo, Osun State.
Speaking further, Oluwo noted security job is one of the most lucrative jobs overseas, very competitive and prestigious but lamented the reverse case of Nigeria, praying the federal government of Nigeria led by President Muhammed Buhari to arrest the weakness through adequate funding.
He related the inadequacies in all sectors of human endeavours to porosity of Nigeria security. He said there cannot be much development in a nation operating an ineffective security. He further stressed illegalities are perpetrated because of weakened security institution as most criminals are not afraid of security men.
Oba Akanbi beseeched government to take the bull by the horn through the provision of more fund, technical training and ammunition to equip the ministry and encourage Nigerians to join the force. Procuring the first class fighting gadgets will motivate individual to opt for security profession, he stressed.
“Reality and sanity can return to Nigeria through effective security. Security is the pillar of all nations. One of the prominent reasons for the porosity of Nigeria security is low funding. I`m appealing to the federal government led by President Muhammed Buhari to improve the budget of the Nigeria security, provide assuring insurance for the uniformed men and provide high class gadgets to secure their lives and the country”
“The weaknesses of the Nigeria policing have also discouraged many Nigerians from joining the force. In advanced countries, security is one of the best jobs, very lucrative, satisfactory, prestigious and well-funded” said the monarch.
Oluwo assured the new Area Commander of his usual support to ensure a crime free atmosphere in Osun State and Nigeria as whole.
